Phi Beta Lambda is the collegiate division of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA).

Phi Beta Lambda is hosting a recruiting event on February 21 at 5p.m. in Popplewell Hall, room 202. All students are welcome in Phi Beta Lambda, there are no particular skills required.

According to Missouri Westerns website under the organizations page Phi Beta Lambda’s mission is as follows:

“Phi Beta Lambda’s mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship though innovative leadership and career development programs.”

The website goes on to explain the specific prerequisites to joining the organization.

“Membership in Phi Beta Lambda is open to all disciplines across campus to students with at least two semesters left prior to graduation.”

Pam Klaus, the director of the Center for Franchise Development spoke about the recruiting event.

“Being a part of this organization will aid in building the students skills in leadership and team building, offer networking and enhance your resume.” Klaus said.

Phi Beta Lambda typically meets once a month or more as needed. The organization offers different type of opportunities to its members including chances to travel to state and national conferences, as well as competitions. Every year the conferences are held in a different location, this summers event will be held in Chicago, IL.

Other than Phi Beta Lambda’s involvement in competitions, the organization also does community service events and works on building business portfolios.

Last year there were multiple students from Missouri Western’s Phi Beta Lambda competing in state level competitions.

Klaus encourages all students of any major or program to get involved on campus whether its Phi Beta Lambda or other organizations and events around the university.

“I would encourage students to get involved on campus. It makes the college experience more interesting and fun” Klaus said.

Member of the organization, Blake Goforth, shared his experience in Phi Beta Lambda and why he feels that other students should consider joining the organization.

“I hope to see anyone who is interested in Phi Beta Lambda at the meeting. Phi Beta Lambda is a good networking and resume building opportunity for students.” Goforth said.

For those who are interested in Phi Beta Lambda, this recruiting event is being held so students have a time and place to ask any questions they may have about the program.

If any student would like to apply for membership to the club they can fill out the application in the following link on Missouri Westerns website https://orgs.missouriwestern.edu/clubs-and-organizations/phi-beta-lambda/.
