The Craig School of Business is offering a Microsoft Office Suite Certification training through the Center for Workforce Development.

The training will be held in Hearnes Center room 306 with the first exam on March 4, at 12:45 p.m. This Microsoft Suite training includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acces, and OneNote.

The Craig School of Business administrative assistant, Margarita Loxley, provides more information about the training including the pricing and how to sign up.

“Students can contact the Center for Workforce Development to sign up for each course. Each course is 50% off through the Center of Workforce Development.” Loxley said. The training is available to all students. The test itself is free and each course is 50% off.”

The Microsoft Office Suite training is online and will follow different modules and activities. The training is not timed so students can work at their own pace in order to complete the course.

The Craig School of Business Academic Advisor and Internship Coordinator, Katie Campbell, explained why she recommends any student to take the courses.

“All students would benefit from this training as many organizations use Microsoft Office whether it’s Word, Excel, PowerPoint and more.” Campbell said. “From an internship or career standpoint, it’s a great resume booster. It is one more advantage a student may have compared to other candidates.”

Many employers today look for students and potential employees who are knowledgeable in Microsoft, whether it be Excel, PowerPoint or any of the other relevant programs.

The Executive Director for Centers of Business, Annette Weeks, discussed more about the training and how it will benefit all those involved.

“A working knowledge of Excel is vital for most professionals today. By being efficient in the data management tool,” Weeks said. “It can show a potential employer you have experience presenting and showcasing analytical findings. The certifications are very good for resumes.”
