Chelsey Clark has just begun as the new Director of the Center for Military and Veteran Services. Clark has a very impressive background with a variety of experience working with veterans and soldiers.

Clark shared some of her past experiences and positions she has served prior to Missouri Western.

“I commissioned as a Medical Services Officer from the Pony Express ROTC Battalion in 2015. I am currently serving in the Missouri Army National Guard as a Captain.” Clark said. “I was with the 1–129th Field Artillery in Maryville for four years, the 35th Combat Aviation Brigade in Sedalia for over a year and am now at the 229th Multifunctional Medical Battalion in Fulton, Missouri,”

Being the new Director of the Center for Military and Veteran Services, Clark has a lot planned for the future with both the community and students here on campus.

“I plan on sitting down face to face with as many community organizations and partners as possible. I hope to have social media accounts up and running soon. I also hope to either host or partner at least one event per month during the academic calendar,” Clark said.

Engaging with military connected students is important to Clark. She plans on partnering for a variety of projects like PTSD awareness events, fundraising opportunities and potentially bringing in guest speakers.

Administrative Assistant of the Center, Angie Osborn, shared her excitement to work with Clark.

“I will be one of the many persons collaborating with Chelsey & helping to execute some new ideas that we hope will connect our military students and build that family here on campus,”

The Center for Military and Veteran Services was opened in the Fall of 2020 and is still relatively new to our campus. The office is a place that can offer a variety of support to military affiliated students.

Rick Harshaw is the work study student for The Center for Military and Veteran Services. Harshaw explains his role at the CMVS and what he does.

“I try to help answer questions about benefits for Military, Veterans and dependents if Chelsey Clark isn’t in the office. I also try to make sure the lobby isn’t messy” Harshaw said.

The CMVS welcomes students to use their lounge area in Eder 200 and would love to meet some new faces.
